How to Map Custom Domain Name From Godaddy to Blogger- 4 Simple Steps

Posted by Unknown
Want to make your blog or website look professional? Adding Custom Domain is ofcourse the first thing you need to do. Most of you might have already bought a domain or planning to get one but donot know how to add it to blogger platform. And I assume that’s the reason you landed on this page. Godaddy provides one of the best services with very low prices for even “.com” and “.net” domains. Even I bought my domain in Godaddy, but didn’t know how to map it with my blogger. It is little tricky for a newbie to understand and implement correctly. So, here I am going to teach you how to map Custom Domain Name from Godaddy to Blogger in four simple and clear steps.

Mapping Custom Godaddy Domain Name to Blogger Blogspot

Step1: Settings in your Blogspot Blog

Open your Blogspot Dashboard and Goto “Settings”. Click on Basic and goto Publishing. Click on “Add Custom Domain”.
Type your Domain Name and Save it. You must be prompted with an error, with two CNAMEs. The left side is the Host or Source and the right side you will find the Destination or Target.
Save those two CNAMEs onto your Notepad, you will need them.

Step2: Godaddy Account and DNS Zone File

Goto Godaddy and login with your username. Open “My Account”.
Expand the “Domain” details. Launch the Domain you want to add.

Navigate to the “DNS Zone File” Tab and Click on the “Edit” option.

Step3: DNS Manager- Zone File Editor

Add the A(host) files by selecting the Quick Add option.
Add the following in the first and second columns:
Host                       Points to
@                            216.239.32.21
@                            216.239.34.21
@                            216.239.36.21
@                            216.239.38.21

After finishing the above step, add CNAME.
Add the host and destination files you have saved in your notepad by selecting the Quick Add option.
For instance, “www” must be added under the host column and “ghs.google.com” must be added under the Points to column. Copy the second CNAME in the same way.
That’s it, you have done configuring the domain name from Godaddy account.

Step4: Final Step and Redirection

Goto your blogspot blog  which you have left earlier. Hit on the Save button and you are done!

There is one final step you need to do before shouting “eureka!”. Check the box which says “Redirect burptech.com to www.burptech.com” . This simple step will redirect the blog even if someone don’t use “www” before your domain name.
There you go! If you have done all the steps correctly, then your blog is ready with a custom domain! If there is any problem with your setup, leave a comment below.
